Tingley v Farsley Victorious!!!

Today was always going to be an unusual match, for one thing what colour should the laydeez wear (I went wi green) and the second thing is here we were darn at the crescent, our home stomping ground and for one of these matches, we would be the away team (GASP!!!). We knew we had a mountain to climb against top of the league and unbeaten Farsley, who turned up with the most amount of support i’ve seen in a long time and a press officer!!! Well heck at least you have me. Tingley started the first match will a 10 lady squad against Farsley who had 11 plus 5 subs to choose from!! Vince as usual did the motivational team talk (more on that later) and away it was for the first of our 2 game afternoon. As usual the ball went back and forth with neither side giving an inch, that was until our bloomin Kim, just wrecked the Farsley defence and popped one in the back of the net, leaving the opposition screaming in dismay. Tingley were just in the lead, we still had about 15 minutes to go in the first half, but we were happy we had a goal. Numerous shots on target failed to put anything past the Farsley keeper and sometimes I just don’t know what the heck they were actually aiming at. Farsley had little chances with the stand in back line of Em, Alex, Brownie and Simone who did a fine job of keeping them away from fast asleep Soybean. The shots that did get past were ably dealt with by Soy in one of her better performances (maybe it’s the red hair!!). I digress, with various interuptions to play due to injuries and goings on from the sidelines the game progressed and unfortunatley Tingley were unable to capitalise on their one goal lead. The first game ended with a slight win for Tingley. After quick oranges and jaffa cakes, Dave Smith took charge of the laydeez and had the poor aching luvvies jogging along the pitch (Kim and Capn Amy had wisely nipped to the loo) and just as the whistle was about to be blown did Soybean decide she had to answer the call of nature!!! With her back in between the sticks a battle weary 9 players (Alex suffering an injury) took to the field. Some nifty moves between Amy, Kim and Nikki saw Liuli dashing toward goal securely putting the 1st of the second game to give Tingley the lead. Much onfield shenanigans were going on and Em who must really learn to stop laughing so much was verbally abused on the pitch by a Farsley supporter who at his age (approx 50) really should have known better. Leaving the normally unflappable Em in tears. There were moans from supporters on both sides regarding the amount of stoppages this game had and I totally agree with one Farsley lady who simply said ‘play the game for gods sake’. Tingley had nothing to lose or prove in this match, we simply wanted to play. After everything had settled down, the laydeez tho shaken carried on and hard work from Jade and Brownie, provided Nikki with an easy target, a much needed second goal was ours. With minutes remaining Farsley found a way thru the Tingley back line and with Soybean battling to keep it out and unfortunately losing it, one of the Farsley attack was quick to take advantage of this and the first goal of the afternoon was awarded to them. The match ended with Tingley winning 2-1
Thanks to Brad for standing in to ref at the last minute tho wi that amount of abuse I would seriously think about quitting, Dave for Coaching the second game, Lucy for doing the line. Most of all thanks to the 10 (9) Tingley ladies who battled hard for this win, you were a credit to the club and to me and especially Vince. The Farsley players were extremely unlucky and most of your support was welcomed and watched the match in the spirit intended. (Thats my view and I can say what I want on my page!!!).
Vinces team talk for the day was ‘if you don’t win, it means you don’t love me and Ann’, well I can tell you now I just felt the lurve oozing off that pitch yesterday.
Thanks for the 6 laydeez, I salute ya!!
