Tingley Under 8,s Show Leeds How To Beat The Spurs !!

Tingley Athletic Under 8,s took on Top of the table Gildersome Spurs at Gildersome on Sunday. With bad memories of our last visit ,when we were totally outplayed in both games and handed a lesson in how to play the game ,we started really well and took the lead early in the first half through a lovely move finished by Brad Frost.Thats were it all started to go wrong as the boys took thier foot of the accelerator and sat back thinking they had won the game !!! by half time the score was 3-1 to Gildersome ,and to be fair without the heroics of Thomas Conlon in goal it could of been far far worse, even after some much needed words from the manager at half time the team still seemed to think that the ball should come to them instead of trying to win it and were 5-1 down ,then the penny finally dropped and another from Brad Frost and a couple of good saves from thier keeper kept the under 8,s in it ,the final goal of the game came from a penalty after the ball hit the hand of a Tingley player on the line ,a touch harsh however we play to the whistle and a penalty ,s a penalty ,again Conlon in goal made a amazing effort to get to the ball but the power of the shot meant it went in off the bar 6-2 to Gildersome at the final whistle and its all the team deserved . Game 2 After a few home truths from the manager ,about thinking we are better than the rest and that we are so good that we dont have to try we just turn up ,an amazing transformation took place ,the boys from defenders Kalem Sheldon,George Thornton,Ewan Haigh ,midfielders Blaine Buxton and Daniel Cowell ,and our hard working lone forward Brad Frost all played thier game of the season ,forget the beatings we have handed out to other teams ,this Spurs team are as good as iy gets at this level ,and the boys beat them 3-0 .2 from Dan Cowell and 1 from Brad Frost gave us the victory but as was stated at the end of the game its not who scored or the result ,but the reaction given to the earlier defeat ,we were so dominant that Conlon in goal didnt have to make a save in the whole game as the team didnt let the Spurs near our area .MOM went to Thomas Conlon for his display in the first game ,and for keeping his concentration in the second, and most improved went to Kalem Sheldon for his non stop running tackling and selfless attitude ,but to be fair in the second game it could of gone to the team as as bad as they were in the first game ,they were good in the second ,so at least one team from Yorkshire has beaten the Spurs this week
