Tingley Athletic v Gildersome Spurs U8s

After last weeks heroics the boys came down to earth aginst a very good and very very tall Gildersome team !!! .To be fair we didnt play very well but our defence from the previous week were unavailable and it made a difference ,and by half time we were 5-0 down and thats with our goalie George Thornton playing a blinder pulling off save after save. The second half was a bit better and by the end of the game we managed to keep the score down to 8-0 .Then Gildersome asked if the boys wanted another short game which i thought they wouldnt after the beating they had just received ,yet to the boys credit they jumped at the chance and at half time held Gildersome to 0-0 ,we ended up losing 4-1 with Bradley Frost again scoring .The hard working Blaine Buxton hit the post and his tough tackling midfield partner Daniel Cowell made the keeper do a fine save .So a much much better perfomance from the boys .Kaylem Sheldon won the Unite most improved player for his non stop tackling keeping the larger Gildersome team at bay.And the excellent George Thornton deservedly won the Unite man of the match award for one of the best goalkeeping performances both managers had seen ,and one save in particular was remarkable, again the main thing is that the boys and parents enjoyed the game if not the result.
