This Weekends Real David v Goliath Contest !! Tingley under8,s v Gildersome

After a pre season hammering from Gildersome the boys played the same team in a league fixture at the Crescent.Again Gildersome brought their 100% record and nobody gave our under 8,s a hope .But as the saying goes football is a funny old game and this highlighted all that is great about the sport.After a cracking first half Tingley went in with a 1-0 lead thanks to Bradley Frost ,soon after the break the same player made it 2-0 ,almost immediatel from the kick off Gildersome were awarded a penalty ,but our stand in keeper Daniel Cowell made a fine double save to preserve our lead,then a cracking 25 yard drive put Gildersome right back in the game ,with minutes remaining Brad Frost again got the ball on the wing beat 4 players and slotted ball under the keeper to give him a hat trick ,again Gildersome came back and scored with virtualy the last kick of the game .So Gildersomes long run of victories ending coincided with our first ever league win at under 8 level ,amongst great scenes of joy on the touchline and on the pitch .All the players were awarded the mom trophy ,Daniel Cowell for his goalkeeping heroics ,Brad Frost for the hat trick ,Blaine Buxton for supplying Brad for his hat trick ,same for George Thornton ,Kalem Sheldon for his non stop tackling with the same for Brandon Megson and Ewan Haigh,most improved went to Ewan for a faultless defensive display ,.So we have now played 2 league games and won one and drew one ,again its not just the win but the way they played to win ,well done boys .
