Kirkstall Crusaders v Tingley Athletic Corinthians. 11/3 /12. ko 10.30 am.
Today saw Tingley Corinthians travel away to Kirkstall Crusaders for a tough game against a well organized side.
There was a minutes silence before kick off for the Brave Yorkshire Regiment soldiers who sadly lost their lives in the line of duty this week.
Tingley stand in Goalkeeper Matty B was called upon to make several good saves early on, as Kirkstall started the game very brightly, and were in front inside the first 5 minutes, when after a scramble in the area the ball was bundled over the line. 1-0.
Tingley started to settle after a slow start, and created a couple of half chances.
But Kirkstall seemed to be a yard quicker than Tingley and shortly after they made it 2-0 after a quick throw in and cross into the box found the Kirkstall player in space to finish from 6 yds. 2-0.
Tingley continued to battle against a big strong team, but were undone again when Matty made a good initial save to tip the onto the post but the ball came back hit him and dropped into the net for Kirkstall 3rd goal. 3-0.
Matty was called upon again to make a great save down to his right, and was keeping the score respectable early on.
But quick breaks from Kirkstall added another 3 goals before the halftime whistle brought the end to a Torrid first half for Tingley.
Tingley started the second half better and were working well to close Kirkstall down and deny them the space they enjoyed in the first half.
But Tingley were dealt another blow when a Kirkstall cross into the box, was headed up and over the Tingley Keeper to score number seven. 7-0.
This was harsh on Tingley who were working really hard to get back in the game, but they were just not getting the run of the ball, and when a shot from the edge of the box found it’s way into Tingleys net for Kirksalls 8th goal, you just new it was going to be one of those days. 8-0.
And when another quick break from Kirkstall resulted in their ninth goal,(9-0) Tingley could have easily given up the ghost and let their heads drop, but they must be given credit for keeping going, and were rewarded 5 minutes before the end, when it was Kirkstall who were caught out with a quick throw in from Spud, found Charlie in space who hit a great strike from the edge of the box which rifled into the top left corner of the net leaving the keeper with no chance. 9-1.
This was a terrific goal and one that was richly deserved, for all the hard work Tingley had put in, especially in the second half.
But Unfortunately Kirkstall had the last say and right on full time another quick break found the Kirkstall forward through on goal, and he finished well into the bottom corner to make the final score 10-1 to Kirkstall
Full time 10-1.
Unlucky today boys you worked your socks off right to the final whistle and sometimes in football you just have to take it on the chin and move on to the next game, but if you keep putting that much effort into the remaining games you won’t go far wrong.
WELL DONE BOYS!!!
Today’s Man of the Match award goes to Matty B for and excellent display in goal.
And Todays outstanding Effort goes to WILL for a tireless and harworking performance.
