Tingley Athletic Corinthians V  Garforth Rangers.    Ko 10.30 am.  League Cup.

Todays match saw Corinthians welcome Garforth Rangers to Cave lane in the League cup, this was going to be a tough test for the Corinthians as Rangers are currently sitting 2 leagues above them.

The task got even tougher just 2 minutes into the game, when Rangers caught Tingley cold at the back, and the Rangers forward finished well to give them an early lead.

This was a wake up call for Tingley, and they had a great chance to level things, when Ewan made a quick break and was clean through on goal, but the keeper came out well to save.

Juddy did well out on the right to beat a defender and whip a cross into the box, which fooled the Rangers keeper, but the ball hit the inside of the far post and ran back along the goal line and into the keepers grateful hands.

Tingley were really working hard to get back into the game, but Scott was called upon to make a superb goal line clearance to keep Tingley in the game.

But at last the hard work paid off, after a quick break found Ewan in space to run clear and hit a superb curling shot over the advancing keeper to put Tingley on level terms. 1-1.

But shortly after all Tingleys hard work was undone, when after a good build up found Rangers in space at the edge of the box, the striker drilled a low shot into the corner of the net, to put Rangers back in front. 1-2.

Adam and M.J were working hard in the middle, but Tingley just couldn’t find that final touch before half time, and were unlucky to in behind.

H/T  1-2.

Tingley started the second half  brightly and continued to take the game to Rangers, but Rangers are a good organised side and were making things difficult for Tingley, and this made for a good open game, but Tingley were really starting to play some good passing football, and this led to the equaliser, when the ball was played through to Ewan who made a great run from midfield shaking off 2 Rangers defenders  and sliding the ball under the advancing keeper to deservedly put Tingley level. 2-2.

Tingley really had the bit between their teeth now, and were bossing the game now and were unlucky not to be in front when Juddy hit a good shot , which just drifted wide, and shortly after it was Ewan who hit a shot from distance which just drifted over the bar.

But as the clock ran down, Ewan had the smell of a hat trick in his nostrils, and made another superb break through the midfield and this time shrugged off the attention of 3 Rangers players with a burst of pace that Usain Bolt would be proud of , and cooly slotted the ball home to bag his hat trick and put Tingley in front. 3-2.

This left Rangers shell shocked, and straight from the kick off Tingley hit number 4, with another quick break, but this Time Ewan turned provider and found Jack in space just inside the area, and he made no mistake, and drilled a low shot beyond the keeper, to put the tie beyond Rangers. 4-2.

Final Score  Tingley 4- Rangers 2.

All the boys should be very proud of a superb performance in arguably their best performance of the season, especially the second half, to come from behind against a very good side, who are 2 leagues above them, and play them off the park, is a fantastic result.

Congratulations on a superb team effort.

Todays  Man of the Match award goes to EWAN for a superb display.

The outstanding effort award goes to the WHOLE TEAM   for exactly that, an OUTSTANDING effort.
