Kippax Athletic  V  Tingley Athletic Corinthians.      27/11/11    KO  10.30 am  Supplementary Cup.

Today saw Tingley Corinthians in Cup action away to Kippax.

The conditions were very difficult today due to a very strong wind, which Tingley had at their backs in the first half, and they started brightly, getting the ball down to feet and passing confidently.

The first chance of the game falling to Adam, after a great ball over the top from Jordan found him in space inside the Kippax area, but the keeper saved well.

But on 10 mins Tingley were dealt a cruel blow, when the Kippax forwards shot beat Mustard, and Spud got back well to clear the danger , but his clearace struck another Tingley player and rolled into the net , to give Kippax the lead. 1-0.

Tingley almost levelled straight away, after a quick break down the right by Ewan who crossed into the box for Reece to shoot over the bar, and then after another break from Ewan again found Reece in space the Keeper was called upon to save well.

Tingley had the bit between their teeth now and were really playing well, and after 25 mins the pressure paid off, after a corner was swung deep into the box by M.J, which Kippax failed to clear, and Jack was on hand to finish well , for a richly deserved equalizer. 1-1.

Then M.J was unlucky not to put Tingley in front with a superb strike from distance which the keeper just managed to hold onto.

It was all Tingley now, and they were again unlucky not to take the lead when MJ again had a shot from 25 yards which just drifted wide of the post.

Tingley were creating plenty of chances but were not able to get their noses in front before the halftime whistle blew, and were unfortunate to go in level at half time.  1-1.

The second half  was going to be difficult for Tingley as they were now playing into a very strong wind, but they got the ball down to feet and really took the game to Kippax.

It was proving to be a more even contest in second half with MJ getting back well to defend a quick break and Adam & Juddy causing Kippax problems up front.

But Tingley were caught out at the back when a clearance was held up in the wind and fell kindly for the Kippax forward to slot the ball home to put Kippax in front ,rather fortunately. 2-1.

Tingley continued to battle in midfield , and were working really hard to find the equalizer, but were finding it hard going as every clearance was blown straight back at them by the wind, and they were caught out again after failing to clear the ball, and again it fell to a Kippax player in space, who drove the ball home to put Kippax 3-1 up.

Tingley continued to battle right to the final whistle but were unable get back in the game, which ended 3-1 to the home side.

This was another superb performance from Tingley Corinthians, who worked tirelessly for each other, and was a pleasure to watch, despite the scoreline.

Well done boys for a supreme team effort.

The outstanding effort award goes to Charlie for a superb game.

The Man of the Match award goes to MJ  for another assured performance.
